Electricity

Today we did some experiments about electricity.  We played with static electricity when we rubbed the balloons on our heads and put it by a can it was like a magnet. We also made little brain box experiments we had to make a light turn on and a fan spin at the same time. We tried to turn on a light  using 4-5 lemons, 4 coins and some nails. We had to work as a team to complete all the activities my team was successful we managed to do all the activities.

Healthy cooking

Last Friday we had to design a healthy meal for our makerspace. We all had to use one or more of the vegetables from the garden. We were in groups of four and five my group decided to make a stuffed capsicum and a burrito. We used carrots, celery and parsley from the garden and in the burrito there was rice, smoked chicken, beans, tomatoes and cheese.
We put our celery in the ground as a seed then it grew to a plant it needs rich soil, plenty of water, and protection from hot sun and high temperatures to grow.

Geometry DLO

In our class we did some geometry. We were put into groups to do some activities about geometry. I learnt how to make a trapezoid using scratch.  I learnt about 2D and 3D shapes. I learnt a lot about geometry.

New Zealand Weather

Kia ora I’m Archie from Paihia School this is my  ad about weather around the world. I learnt that the Amazon Rainforest has no winter and in India it rains all summer.

Maker space

Kia ora I’m Archie this is my DLO about maker space. Me pharell and Alexander worked together to make a creation to keep our juicie from melting. In our group we came up with an idea about what we should make. Alexander came up with our idea and I added a few adjustments. Pharell helped us get all the stuff ready. Our juicies stayed solid because we used a lot of insulation. We used fluff and  polystyrene we also put tinfoil over the top to deflect the sunlight. We were surprised our idea worked.

Right place DLO

Time DLO

This term we have been learning about time we were put into groups to figure out problems related to time. We had to work together to complete tasks. We all learned a lot.

I learnt that there are 3600 seconds in an hour.

cross country

Last  Friday Paihia School went to Bledisloe Domain for cross country. It started youngest to oldest boys first and girls second. I came 4th place. There were food stalls there, there  was sausages, juices, cakes and nachos.

Author visit

Today we had an author visit our school called Adele to tell us about how she loved writing books and how she was inspired to write them. Two of her books have won prizes. All of her books are based on a true story. She has always wondered about aliens and other mystical things wondering if they are real.
